Born 05-03-1986 in Huddersfield Yorkshire.

Ellen grew up in Yorkshire with her parents Carole and Steven Whitaker and younger brothers Joe, Thomas and Donald Whitaker. Ellen started competing at the age of the 5 and over the years has progressed through the ranks of her sport, gaining a huge following and becoming a household name in the show jumping world.

Ellen has numerous prestigious wins and accomplishments including 6 European Championships and 3 Championship medals. With wins in Grands Prix, Nations Cups, Derby’s and Puissance, she is a true horsewoman.

As part of the world famous Whitaker dynasty, she fits in the family tree as the daughter of Steven Whitaker. Her Uncles are John, Michael and Ian Whitaker. She has already competed alongside her family in 2 Championships, these being the European Championships in San Patriagnano (aged 19) with her Uncle John and European Championships in Mannheim (aged 21) alongside Uncles John and Michael.

Ellen jumped a triple clear to contribute towards a team bronze medal and qualified Team GB for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She was later selected for the 2008 Beijing Olympics but could not attend due to lameness in horse Locarno 62. Ellen has also been recognised for her elegance and media presence within her sport, picking up the Longines award for elegance in 2005. She has also been Britain’s leading cover girl amongst the equestrian media.

Ellen took a short break from the highest level of the sport to give birth to 2 children. Harry Steven Mariñas Whitaker 17-05-2014 and Frankie Thomas Mariñas Whitaker 20-03-2016 with partner Antonio.

With the support of her new family, Ellen is a very focused, hardworking and determined lady with a passion for horses, sport and learning. She has very grounded roots of which she lives by and has huge ambitions yet to fulfil. With the help of a good team of horses, owners and sponsors we think the best is yet to come.
